Pre-school thru 5th graders will decorate eggs, make crafts, make a button, etc.  This program is co-sponsored by the FSMS Pride.

FSRC YouthTrack & Field Meet


The FSRC Staff would like to offer a track and field meet for the youth of Fort Scott to compete in running and field events.


Participants may compete in the following events:  50, 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes;  standing long jump; and softball throw.  Winners will receive medals at the conclusion of each event.


Divisions: 2nd & 3rd and 4th & 5th Grade

Date: Saturday, April 20, 2019

Location: Frary Stadium

Time: Registration begins @ 9:30 a.m., with the meet beginning @ 10:00 a.m.

Fees: $3.00 per person


2019 Ft. Scott Pickle Ball Spring Open

 EVENT DATE:   Saturday, April 27th

TIME:               Men’s & Women’s Doubles @ 9 a.m.

                       Mixed Doubles to follow

DIVISIONS:     55 & Under and 56 & Over

LOCATION:      Pickle Ball Courts - 910 Burke St.,            Fort Scott, KS.

FORMAT:         Tournament format based on registration numbers. Outdoor Pickle Balls will be used. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place medals in each                                       division. T-Shirt Included.

ENTRY FEE:     $15 for the first event and $5 each additional event if registered by April 24th ($20 after April 24)


Dragoon Charge - 5K Run or Walk


This annual road race is held during the Good Ol’ Days festival, June 1st. A 5K run or walk will begin at Frary Stadium (9th & Main) at approximately 8:00 a.m.  Fees are $10 prior to race day and $15 the day of the race. Register at Buck Run Community Center - 735 Scott Ave. in Fort Scott, KS. For information call 620-223-0386


Age division include 16 and under, 17-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 plus.  Medals go to the top male and female finishers in each division.   Each runner/walker will receive a t-shirt with their entry fee.


1st Annual Good Ol’ Days Corn Hole Tournament


This event will be held after the annual Good ol’ Days parade on Friday, May 31st. Doubles teams will compete in a double elimination format beginning at approximately 7:00 p.m. at the Don Hewett Ball field. 


Teams must sign up by Wednesday, May 29th at the Buck Run Community Center. Team fees are $10.00 per team.  $5. of each entry fee will be used for prize money for the winning teams. 1st place will receive 60% of entry fees collected, 2nd place 30% and 3rd place 10%.

Community Dances


Have fun with your friends while enjoying your favorite tunes, food and dancing to “Live Bands”. This experience is a fun way to exercise and meet new friends.  Community Dances will be held throughout the Fall/Winter.  Call 223-0386 for additional information.


There will be an admission charge at the door to cover the cost of the band. Snacks and refreshments will be provided!





Thursday Card Players


If you are looking for a good game of cards, fun and conversation, come down to Buck Run on Thursday evenings and join in with the  Card Players as they play the night away from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

This is a free weekly event to anyone that wants to either play cards, drink coffee, eat snacks, or just socialize.



Breakfast Bingo


Come drink some coffee and play some bingo at Buck Run.  Staff will provide the bingo cards, the caller and coffee.  Prizes provided by the Fort Scott Recreation Commission.


Days:   2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month

Time:    9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Cost:    Free 


 Dance Lessons  - Tuesday Evenings


Ted Koller will instruct adult dance lessons on Tuesdays beginning September 20th. A different dance step will be taught at each class. A fee of $5.00 per person will be charged per month to help pay forr a band held at BRCC on Saturday evenings. 


Beginners -      7:30 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.

Intermediate - 8:15 p.m. - 9 p.m.






 Ask the staff at BRCC about checking out Shuffle board and/or Ping Pong Equipment. Available at the front desk at BRCC.  This can be played at no charge with a $3.00 deposit.



T.O.P.S. Meetings

Held @ BRCC - Tuesdays -

Weekly weigh - in and discussion of wellness topics are the focus of each meeting.
